“Love doesn’t always end well,” Maleficent warns. The new Disney sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil is about to demonstrate just how complicated love can get—especially when you mix in intricate familial ties and new compelling dark forces.
Mistress of Evil is the follow-up to 2014’s Maleficent, the dark retelling of fairy tale classic Sleeping Beauty. Picking up a few years later, the new film will continue to explore the complex relationship between its two heroines. Angelina Jolie reprises her role as the titular sinister fairy and is again joined by Elle Fanning, who played Aurora in the first film.
